Family Secrets Series Subscription

Embark on a year-long journey with our monthly escape room subscription! Receive 1 episode every month, solve puzzles, in each 1-2 hour game. 1-4 players ages 10+.

Each month you'll receive a new episode in the mail, containing everything you need to solve the mystery. No apps, no internet required - just you, your friends, and the clues.

Perfect for date nights, family game nights, or solo puzzle solving. Each episode takes 1-2 hours to complete and is designed for 1-4 players ages 10 and up.

SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE DUE TO THE CANADA POST STRIKE - THE BOX SET IS AVAILABLE HERE, OR CHECK HERE FOR UPDATES ON THE STRIKE

Start from Episode

With each episode, you will be sent:

- An envelope

- a wide variety of interactive assets filled with puzzles, maps, schematics and clues

- An episode guide (Flow Card)

- Links in app to hints, Spotify soundtrack, videos, augmented reality, images and so much more!

Then it's up to you to follow the clues and solve the mystery!

Each of the 12 episodes are mailed individually in the subscription method, unless you order a 2-12 or 3-12 subscription, in which case you will get fewer episodes total (this is only for people who have already played some). When you place your first order, you will be billed for one game. Your game will ship within a few days of billing and the speed of the shipment depends on what type of shipping method you select (snail mail vs parcel). For more detailed information about shipping visit our shipping info page.

Then, each month, you'll get billed for the next game, until the series ends, at which time the billing will stop.

For those who opt for "pre-paid" subscriptions, it works the exact same way, except the billing happens all at once at the start, for the whole series. And then the mail-outs happen one at a time over the coming months. This is a great option for gifting someone the entire series but having the gift continue throughout the year.

1) Carefully open the envelope and examine the items. Everything you need to get started is inside!

2) Solve the escape-room style puzzles, find clues and crack codes.

3) If you get stuck on this self-guided adventure, you can access hints (if you need them) at playtheescapemail.com.

4) Repeat and play the next episodes in the series.

Like all Escape Mail games, this is a hands-on experience including 3-D builds, tactile elements, folding, tearing, and all sorts of creative interations.

Great series

We took the expert level set and gifted the standard set to others. We didn’t realize that the standard set came with clue cards/cards that let you know where to look/which elements to use to solve each puzzle. We enjoyed the expert level set, even though this meant we sometimes had to look for clues because we couldn’t figure things out. That being said, we didn’t use many. If you enjoy challenging puzzles, this is a good kit. Shinobi is definitely easier (and way less time intensive). Shackleton is tougher and comes across as more pulled together (the family secret videos are adorable more than they are Oscar worthy :), but also, you did what you could given the time when it was produced. Really great work. You hooked up with this series (we bought the boxset in one go) and we’ve been coming back for more since. Can’t wait for your next product.

Love these for date-night-at-home!

My husband and I love doing these escape rooms for an at-home date night!
Any chance you could do an Apple Music playlist, though? The Spotify one won’t even play in order for a free listener, and adds in music it thinks matches the mood, rather than just playing the list as-is.
Looking forward to trying the Shackleton series once we finish this one!

Oh we didn't know it added in music! That's so weird! We will look into Apple as well. Thanks for sharing Nicole!

RECOMEND!

It is really nice and affordable. I live in Sweden and typically it takes 1-2 weeks to arrive. The subscription works out wonderfully. The puzzles are not too hard nor too easy. It provides 1-2 hours of fun every month and we are always anxiously waiting for the next episode to arrive.

So glad to hear it! Overseas mail can be tricky, but nice to know it's landing in Sweden without ...

Fun for all ages!

Escape Mail has been a ton of fun for our entire family. Our 11 year received the first two as a gift and once we played through them we had to keep it going. Some of the puzzles take a bit to figure out which makes it fun for all ages. And if you are really stuck the online hint system is really well set-up.
Great product for a reasonable cost! Also really fun that you can select the monthly mail option which is always a mystery in itself finding clues in the mail!

Thank you so much! We love hearing that Escape Mail has become a fun adventure for the whole fami...

Can't wait for episode 3

This was such an amazing family game! As soon as we finished the second episode our daughter asked when the third was going to arrive in the mail.

She was also ecstatic to recognize the escape rooms in the interactive portions as ones she had done at her school a couple years ago. Doesn't get more local than that!

Looking forward to the rest of our family game nights, thanks for the amount of attention, care and thought put into these amazing series, and the time you took at to give us information at the Expo!

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We’re absolutely thrilled to hear how much your family is enjoying the series—and your daughter’s excitement about episode 3 totally made our day! We love that she recognized the escape rooms from school—that local connection is so special to us.

It was a pleasure chatting with you at the Expo, and we’re so happy the experience carried through to your game nights. Thank you for all the energy, curiosity, and time you’re putting into each episode. We can’t wait to hear what you think as the adventure continues!

ADD SOME EXCITEMENT TO YOUR DATE NIGHT, GET-TOGETHER, LOCKDOWN OR FAMILY TIME.

The perfect way to spend time together

Each envelope contains a perfect variety of thoughtfully-designed puzzles suitable for the whole family (ages 12+). With an intuitive balance of paper and digital puzzles, Each episode should take your party 1-2 hours to solve. Enhance your experience with the immersive music, and feel free to sneak a peek at the optional clues in case you need a little extra help.

LOSE YOURSELF IN THE INTRICATE DETAILS OF EACH UNFOLDING CLUE.

Experience jaw-dropping “ah-ha” moments.

Then stand back in wonder as the whole episode opens up to you. Escape Mail is brilliantly constructed so that each clue flows into the next, building to a final episode reveal that will leave you stunned and wanting MORE!

YOU DON’T NEED TO GO OUT TO HAVE AN EXPERIENCE.

EACH ENVELOPE COMES PACKED WITH ALL THE EXCITEMENT, SUSPENSE, ACTION AND MYSTERY OF AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT OUT.

There are a few differences between Shackleton and Family Secrets.

Shackleton is a 6 episode true story. Family Secrets is a 12 episode fictional story.

In Shackleton, digital usage is optional and sparse whereas in Family Secrets an internet connected device is required and used frequently.

Shackleton is our later work, which means overall presentation is more robust. Players say we "levelled up" as creatives haha! Moreover, there is a consistent structure and difficulty level across the episodes.

You can play Escape Mail almost anywhere as an exciting, unexpected and engaging activity for families, friends or couples. The Shackleton Series in particular appeals to those wanting a challenging puzzle to solve set in the context of a true story. Think: family games night or date night for puzzle solvers and history lovers.

Escape Mail is always a family friendly adventure (all content is PG). The difficulty of this series of Escape Mail is suitable for anyone 12 years or older, but playing with an adult is recommended for anyone under the age of 14. As long as you're a strong reader, you can play!

We've included a Flow Card in Episode 1 (and all episodes). Unless you have solved many escape room games before, or you're eager for an intense challenge, we recommend starting with the Flow Card.

You can always access multiple hints on the web app (and/or the solution) with every puzzle along the way.

Everything you need to solve the entire series is included in your envelope, with the exception of a pencil and scrap paper (with optional use of an internet-connected device for hints, answer checker, etc.). Unlike the Family Secrets Series, there is no tape or scissors required.

Escape Mail games are just different. There's no doubt about it. Just ask Nicholas L who said, "I’m not someone who normally would have chosen an escape room style game; but it has been so much fun trying something new with my wife."

What do people love about Escape Mail?

The Running Storyline: You can lose yourself in this true-story adventure as each episode connects to the one before it, including plots twists, clever connections, and a meta puzzle for every episode!

Variety of Puzzles: When you play Escape Mail you realize no two episodes are alike. Every theme is different and every puzzle we approach from a new angle to keep it fresh for you.

Quality Elements: Our games are immersive, tactile & durable. This series in particular we increased the production value both to wow you, as well as to ensure it is replayable by others after you.

Challenging & Satisfying: By the end of an Escape Mail episode, you have a real sense of achievement and accomplishment. The episode concludes with a phrase that makes sense of the voyage up to that point in time. The entire series also culminates in a final puzzle as well, which we call the Epilogue. It is essentially a Meta-Meta puzzle!
